LAMB: Lambert Map Projection

This record specifies a Lambert conformal map projection to be used for transformations between ellipsoidal and mapping coordinates. Any number of LAMB records can be used, each specifying a map projection for a specific area (quadrangle). The area (quadrangle) of validity for a map projection may be specified by preceding the LAMB record with a QUAD record. Note that the XLAM (extended Lambert) record allows the specification of seconds of origin latitude and longitude (in addition to degrees and minutes), whereas the LAMB record only allows the specification of degrees and minutes.

The format of the LAMB record is as follows:

Columns 002-005: LAMB
Columns 007-013: Map projection name (any text)
Columns 015-015: North (n/N/space) or south (s/S/-) indicator for origin latitude
Columns 016-018: Degrees of origin latitude
Columns 020-021: Minutes of origin latitude
Columns 023-023: East (e/E/space) or west (w/W/-) indicator for origin longitude
Columns 024-026: Degrees of origin longitude
Columns 028-029: Minutes of origin longitude
Columns 031-042: Northing of origin (false northing)
Columns 044-055: Easting of origin (false easting)
Columns 057-057: North (n/N/space) or south (s/S/-) indicator for first standard parallel
Columns 058-060: Degrees of first standard parallel
Columns 062-063: Minutes of first standard parallel
Columns 065-065: North (n/N/space) or south (s/S/-) indicator for second standard parallel
Columns 066-068: Degrees of second standard parallel
Columns 070-071: Minutes of second standard parallel
Columns 073-074: Linear unit name

Note that it doesn't matter whether you enter the northern-most (or southern-most) standard parallel as the first or second standard parallel.
